About

Ravens' Light is an online literary magazine dedicated to the speculative fiction genre. We believe in the power of the  imagination, whether it's in the escapism of fantasy, the forward-looking perspective of science fiction, or the retrospective exploration of the human psyche in horror.

While the staff at Ravens' Light consists of college students, we are not a college-affiliated journal, nor do we only accept submissions from other college students. Our goal at Ravens' Light is to seek out works of literary merit in the spec fic genre, whether they come from the pens or keyboards of fellow students or from someone outside the ivory tower of academia. Great writing is great writing, no matter who writes it.

As to our credentials, while we may not consist of published authors or experienced editors, our staff are enthusiastic lovers of the spec fic genre. We hold ourselves to the high standards expected from the literary magazines published by universities or professional presses. We seek out stories that push the boundaries of speculative fiction beyond genre conventions and into the realm of high literary merit. Yet, we do recognize that genre traditions has defined imaginative fiction over the years and will accept stories that exhibit an intimate understanding with said traditions.

Ravens' Light is self-funded. We believe that writers should be paid for their work and though we cannot offer much in compensation, we want to pay our writers for their submission. Ravens' Light publishes on a rolling submissions basis, so submit anytime.

We hope you decide to submit. Please subscribe, either through email or by following us through Blogger or Google, and keep writing!
